The starting gun has sounded for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since the competitions began, Team USA has secured 11 gold medals — seven of which have been won by American women, reported Sporting News.

The U.S. is currently ranked third in its gold medal count, according to a running tracker from Olympics.com.
The U.S. has secured 31 medals in total, the most of any country so far, per Olympics.com.

Here are the American women bringing home gold.

The women’s 3x3 basketball team

Allisha Gray, Kelsey Plum, Stefanie Dolson and Jacquelyn Young won the inaugural 3x3 basketball tournament Wednesday. The women defeated Russia 18-15 in the final match, reported USA Today.

The women have made history as the first gold medalists in 3x3 basketball since the competition made its Olympic debut in Tokyo, per USA Today.

Team USA took an early 7-2 lead and continued to pull ahead, per USA Today. Dolson scored seven points during the gold-medal match.

Fencer Lee Keifer

Lee Keifer won the women’s foil final 15-13 in an upset match Sunday. She defeated the defending champion, Inna Deriglazova, from Russia to claim gold in fencing, reported The Associated Press.

This is the U.S. Fencing Team’s third gold medal in its Olympic history, per the AP.
Keifer has been fighting for gold for the last three Olympics, per the AP. She placed fifth in the 2012 London Games and 10th in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Skeet shooter Amber English

Team USA swept the skeet shooting finals Monday with Amber English taking home the women’s gold medal. English defeated the defending champion Diana Bacosi of Italy by hitting 56 of the 60 targets, per CBS News.

English, 38, comes from a shooting family and is currently working toward becoming an army officer at Fort Benning, Georgia, per CBS News.

Despite just missing Olympic qualifications in 2012 and 2016, English is one of the world’s best shooters, reported CBS News.

Surfer Carissa Moore

Another sport making its Olympic debut, Carissa Moore won the first-ever Olympic gold in her sport. She rode to gold in the shortboard competition on Tuesday, reported NPR.

Moore is a native Hawaiian who grew up as a child surf prodigy, reported The Boston Globe.
At 18 years old, Moore became the youngest world champion surfer, per NPR. Now, at 28 years old, she became the first — and youngest — Olympic medalist in her sport.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky

After having an up-and-down day of competition Wednesday, Katie Ledecky dominated the women’s 1,500 freestyle event — the metric mile swim and the sport’s longest race, reported The New York Times.

Ledecky claimed gold with a time of 15:37.34, reported ESPN.
Another American swimmer, Erica Sullivan, claimed silver and finished four seconds behind Ledecky, per ESPN.

Swimmer Lydia Jacoby

Tuesday, Lydia Jacoby became the first Alaskan swimmer to win gold when she claimed a surprising victory in the 200-meter breaststroke, reported NBC News.

Jacoby was the first Alaskan to make the Olympic swim team, per NBC News.

On her journey to the podium, the 17-year-old swimming sensation put her hometown of Seward, Alaska, on the map, reported NBC News.

Taekwondo athlete Anastasija Zolotic

Sunday, Anastsija Zolotic won the United States’ first gold medal in women’s taekwondo, reported the AP. Since childhood, Zolitic, a Florida native, has said she would be an Olympic champion.

Zolotic is only the fourth American to reach the taekwondo Olympic finals and only the second American woman, per AP.
Previously, the U.S. has won two golds in men’s taekwondo, per the AP. Steven Lopez won both of these medals.

The 18-year-old beat Russia’s Tatiana Minina 25-17 to claim the featherweight division title, reported the AP.
